Picturing Family: Visions of West Africa / Juniata College Symposium

Humanity Now’s traveling photo show was displayed at symposium at Juniata College April 18-20, 2016. The theme of the symposium was Advancing African Girls Education and Empowerment.

The photo show, in Juniata’s  Beeghly Library, featured the work of teen girls from The Gambia, who run photo businesses so they can afford to stay in school and achieve financial independence. The girls are part of an after-school enrichment program run by Gambian-led Starfish International.

The symposium included working sessions, talks, and networking opportunities with people working to advance girls education in Africa, including Humanity Now’s president.
